Virtus Program
Protecting God's Children for Adults
It is a Diocesan regulation that all persons who deal or have any contact, no matter how minimal, with children in the course of their ministry MUST be Virtus trained. At Immaculate Conception, we take this directive seriously and reach out to all Parish staff, volunteers, ministries and societies on an annual basis to ensure they comply and are VIRTUS trained.
The VIRTUS program for adults is a three-hour live awareness session that instructs adults of the Church that to protect children you must have continuous awareness and vigilance. This awareness session helps trainees understand signs of child sexual abuse, the methods and means by which offenders commit abuse, and five empowerment steps to prevent child sexual abuse.
