Funeral Planning and Support
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” – Matthew 5:4
The priests and parishioners of Immaculate Conception Parish extend our heartfelt sympathy to you and your family at the passing of your loved one. During this difficult time, we are here to offer our support—spiritually, emotionally, and practically.
Planning the Funeral Liturgy
We believe the Funeral Mass is a powerful expression of faith, hope, and love. We encourage family participation in the liturgy, though your level of involvement is entirely your choice. Our goal is to support you and walk with you through this sacred process.
To help guide you, we have prepared a Funeral Planning Guide and Planning Sheet, which include suggestions and practical details to assist in planning the liturgy.
Family participation may include:
- Selecting appropriate hymns and music
- Presenting the gifts at the Offertory
- Serving as a lector, altar server, or Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion
- Offering a brief reflection in thanksgiving for the life of your loved one
If your family prefers not to participate in these roles, please know that our priests and ministers will respectfully handle all aspects of the liturgy.
Before the Funeral
We ask that you submit the completed Planning Sheet and any personal notes about the deceased to the priest during the wake service, typically held the day before the funeral. These reflections help us honor the life of your loved one with dignity and grace.
Two members of our Ministry of Consolation will visit the wake to assist you in finalizing the details of the Funeral Mass and to offer their presence and prayerful support.
We Are Here for You
Please know that you are not alone. Our community is holding you in prayer, and we are ready to assist you in any way possible.
May God’s peace and comfort be with you always.
Rev. Monsignor Fernando Ferrarese
Pastor, Immaculate Conception Church
